St. John’s Church

Services are held at St John’s at 6.30 p.m. each Sunday.

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

Salvation Through Christ Alone
God’s Word is All Sufficient

James 1:19-21 “Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. Therefore, put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.”

“When the true disciple hears God’s Word, there is an affection for its truth and a desire in his heart to obey it. One of the most reliable evidences of genuine salvation is that hunger for the Word of God. Saving faith is marked by a proper reception of Scripture as the Word of God. It is marked by a proper reaction to the Word, reflected in an obedient life. Just as a new born baby does not have to be taught to hunger for its mother’s milk, the new born child of God does not have to be taught to hunger for God’s Word, his spiritual food and drink. That is the natural impulse of his new spiritual life, of his new creation. Because Christians have experienced the transforming power of God they are to continually submit to His Word, allowing it to continue its divine work in and through our lives. Filthiness which refers to any sort of moral defilement or impurity is a serious barrier to our clearly hearing and comprehending the Word of God.” Leon Keller

“Once a congregation sees Scripture as less than the final, complete, infallible authority for faith and practice, it has opened the doors to theological chaos. Anyone can claim to be speaking God’s revelation—and almost anything can be passed off as divinely revealed truth. And make no mistake, some of the best-known charismatic leaders have abused their people’s trust by claiming they are receiving new truth from God, when what they are really teaching are lies and fabrications.” John MacArthur
